Kangxi Period (1622-1722)
The broad pear-shaped body is decorated with alternating gilt taotie masks and shou-character roundels, the flaring neck is decorated with plantain leaves alternating with lappets and shou characters, all reserved on a luminous black glaze.
Height 15 1/4 in., 38.7 cm.
Condition Report
Overall good visual condition, with minor wear to gilding, scattered glaze pits, and abrasion especially to footing and rim.

Established by Philippe Riché, the Duchange et Riché Asian Art Gallery is the continuation of a family history that started in Paris, back in 1965. Philippe Riché is a member of The Oriental Ceramic Society (UK). He specializes in Chinese and Japanese porcelain and works of art, from the 15th to the 18th century. He is also particularly interested in items influenced by Chinese taste.
