An Impressive Chinese Blue and White Porcelain Hu Vase, Qing Dynasty
清 青花纏枝花卉紋大貫耳壺
Qing Dynasty
The baluster-shaped body has broad shoulders sweeping up to a flared neck flanked by a pair of tubular lug handles, brightly painted in deep shades of cobalt around the body and neck with large peony and lotus blooms borne on leafy meandering scrolls, all supported on splayed foot. The base is skirted with petal lappets. The bottom with an apocryphal Qianlong six-character seal mark.
Height 20 1/2 in., 52 cm.

Condition Report
Overall good condition no visible chips or restorations. A hairline to the mouth rim extending to the neck, running approximately 1.5 inches. A few pits and minor firing flaws on the body. Surface scratches and wear to the underside are consistent with age and use.

Thence by descent, propertyfrom the family of Patrick Griffin, Naples, Florida.
Patrick "Paddy" R. Griffin was a powerful Democratic leader and was Mayor of Hoboken, New Jersey from 1915-1926. According to family history, his house at 810-812 Castile Point in Hoboken was designed by renowned Belle Epoque architect Stanford White.
