with cusped corners, deeply carved in the centre with six scholars in a setting arbored withpine, bamboo, and wutong trees, three scholars depicted seated around one playing theqin, the scene further depicted with an attendant carrying aqincrossing a bridge, all against a diapered ground, the cavetto with a lobed cartouche on each side enclosing three large floral blooms and rich foliage, the reverse carved with tixi scrolls on the sides, all above the straight foot, the base lacquered brown,Japanese wood box
