powerfully cast with a rounded body rising to a 'sauceboat'-shaped rim with a spout on one side, the body rendered on each main sidewith two pairs of confronting phoenix below an elephant and two birds on the neck, one side of the vessel further cast in openwork with an animal-headed handle and the other with a bird resting on a recumbent beast on the other, forming the rebusyingxiong (hero or champion),all against a leiwenground, the beast sturdily forming the base of the vessel and decorated with scrolling motifs along its body, the cover rendered with dragon head with bottle horns at the front and a feline head with an upturned spout at the back of the cover, the vessel with an inscription, partially translating to 'to be treasured for ten thousand years, and for the eternal use of his sons and grandsons’
