Description Portrait of Madame Jacques Nicolas le Boucher d'Ailly Pastel on paper Depicting Marie Louise Catherine Françoise Colette de Villers, wife of Commander Nicolas Le Boucher d'Ailly Signed and dated "J.B. Perronneau / 1770" 69x56 cm Note: Jean-Baptiste Perronneau is considered one of the most important masters of pastel of the second half of the 18th century, known for the refinement of his technique and his ability to capture the personality of his sitters.Marie Louise Catherine Françoise Colette de Villers, whose portrait we now present for auction, was born in 1728, daughter of Jean Baptiste François de Villers and Marie Catherine Le Boucher du Menil. In 1747, she married Nicolas Le Boucher d'Ailly, "Counsellor to the King" and military commander of the city of Abbeville, where Perronneau settled in 1767.
