Collection particulière, France.A BRONZE GROUP ENTITLED 'SANHAJ AHMED HUSAIN', BY SIR JOSEPH EDGAR BOEHM Saiyad Ahmad Hussain was engaged as one of the Queen's 'Indian attendants' on 10 January 1888 and he accompanied the Queen to Balmoral in June of the same year. Confidant of the Queen, an article about 'The Queen's Personal Interest in India' by Ahmad Raffiuddin described him as 'Syed Ahmed Husain, Captain of a Hyderabad Regiment: lately in England for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee' ( The English Illustrated Magazine, 1897/8). Saiyad Ahmad Hussain is portrayed here by Sir Joseph Edgar Boehm, an English sculptor of Austrian origin (1834-1890), as he was twice before by the painter Rudolf Swoboda (1859-1914), at the Queen's request. Our sculptor also created a marble statue of Queen Victoria for Windsor Castle in 1871 (Royal Collection Trust, inv. RCIN 35336), as well as coinage and a monumental bronze sculpture for the Jubilee of Queen in 1887.Veuillez noter que le socle en bois noirci. Please note that the socle is made of ebonised wood.
